This choice of her would be affecting not only her but also the people beside her. This situation at first seems like a personal choice. However the outcomes would also be affecting her relationship with her family as well. As the novel progresses, she who refuses to eat anything which would lead to her destruction. The novel questions the relationship between food consumption, food choices and gender roles. Meat consumption is regarded as a metaphor of the patriarchal system throughout the novel. Therefore, the woman heroine Yon\u011fhe refuses the system and challenges with her own body. Bu karar\u0131 onu ve \u00e7evresindekileri de etkileyecek bir karard\u0131r. En ba\u015fta sadece yemek se\u00e7imleriyle ilgili g\u00f6r\u00fcnen bu durum, \u00f6nce kahraman\u0131n ailesi ile ili\u015fkilerini etkiler. Daha sonra ise Yon\u011fhe, yemek yemeyi tamamen reddederek kendi kimli\u011fi ile ilgili bir karar verir. Olduk\u00e7a basit gibi g\u00f6r\u00fcnen yemek yemeyi se\u00e7mesi ya da yememeyi se\u00e7mesi onun kendini yok etmesine kadar giden s\u00fcreci de anlat\u0131r. Yazar, romanda kad\u0131n kahraman\u0131n yemek se\u00e7imleri \u00fczerinden yeme\u011fin toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri ile olan ili\u015fkisini sorgular. Romanda et yemek erkek egemen d\u00fczenin bir metaforudur. Yon\u011fhe de \u00f6nce et yemeyi reddederek sonra da bedenine alaca\u011f\u0131 b\u00fct\u00fcn besinleri reddederek sisteme kendi bedeniyle kar\u015f\u0131 gelir.
