Abstract: <\/strong> Nuclear energy is a supra-governmental issue and a state policy. Therefore, although their political views were different, transitioning to nuclear energy by governments since the 1970s has been insisted. Contrarily, nuclear energy affects all people\u2019s lives. Hence, the success of Turkey\u2019s nuclear phase-in depends on the general public\u2019s consent. To provide it, the media emerges as an institution reproducing the dominant discourse. The article, having a conceptual base from Gramsci\u2019s theory of hegemony and using the discipline of Teun van Dijk\u2019s Critical Discourse Analysis, focuses on the representation of the anti-nuclear movement in the Milliyet Daily between January 11, 1999, when B\u00fclent Ecevit became the Prime Minister, and July 25, 2000, when the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant bid was cancelled; and in this process, it was evaluated whether the Milliyet Daily produced the dominant discourse on nuclear energy and how and how much it fulfilled its responsibility towards society.<\/p>\n

\u00d6z: <\/strong> N\u00fckleer enerji h\u00fck\u00fcmetler \u00fcst\u00fc bir konu; bir devlet politikas\u0131d\u0131r. Dolay\u0131s\u0131yla siyasi g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015fleri farkl\u0131 olsa da 1970\u2019lerden itibaren h\u00fck\u00fcmetler eliyle n\u00fckleer enerjiye ge\u00e7i\u015f s\u00fcrecinde \u0131srar edilmi\u015ftir. \u00d6te yandan n\u00fckleer enerji, ba\u015fta y\u00f6re insan\u0131 olmak \u00fczere t\u00fcm halk\u0131n ya\u015fam\u0131n\u0131 etkileyecek nitelikte bir konudur. Bu y\u00fczden s\u00fcrecin ba\u015far\u0131ya ula\u015fmas\u0131, halk\u0131n, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019nin n\u00fckleer enerjiye ge\u00e7i\u015fine r\u0131za g\u00f6stermesine ba\u011fl\u0131d\u0131r. Medya ise halk\u0131n r\u0131zas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flamak i\u00e7in egemen s\u00f6ylemi yeniden ve yeniden \u00fcreterek yayan bir kurum olarak kar\u015f\u0131m\u0131za \u00e7\u0131kmaktad\u0131r. Kavramsal temelini Gramsci\u2019nin hegemonya kuram\u0131n\u0131n olu\u015fturdu\u011fu bu makalede, Teun van Dijk\u2019in Ele\u015ftirel S\u00f6ylem Analizi disiplininden yararlan\u0131larak, B\u00fclent Ecevit\u2019in ba\u015fbakanl\u0131k koltu\u011funa oturdu\u011fu 11 Ocak 1999 ile Akkuyu n\u00fckleer santral ihalesini iptal ederek n\u00fckleer enerji konusunu rafa kald\u0131rd\u0131\u011f\u0131 25 Temmuz 2000 tarihleri aras\u0131nda, n\u00fckleer kar\u015f\u0131t\u0131 hareketin Milliyet gazetesindeki temsiliyetine odaklan\u0131lm\u0131\u015f ve bu s\u00fcre\u00e7te, Milliyet gazetesinin n\u00fckleer enerjiyle ilgili egemen s\u00f6ylemi \u00fcretip \u00fcretmedi\u011fi ve topluma kar\u015f\u0131 sorumlulu\u011funu ne kadar ve nas\u0131l yerine getirdi\u011fi de\u011ferlendirilmeye \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n
