What the public sphere comprise in phenomenologically, what type of functions it displays creates the main problematics of the enquiry. In this regard, this study first and foremost mentions on the works that gained the todays theoric meanings of public sphere. Hannah Arendt, J\u00fcrgen Habermas, Oskar Negt-Alexander Kluge, Richard Sennett and Nancy Fraser\u2019s role in including this concept into political theory. Following, it has been questioned if the meaning of this concept in todays and previous history ever had any changes or not. In this direction the semantic roots and uses has been researched. Afterwards, the difference between public space and private space researched for publicity and pluralism established the founding qualities of the concept. In this work, at last, the relations between political space with politics and democracy was touched upon. Kamusal alan\u0131n fenomenolojik olarak ihtiva etti\u011fi \u00f6\u011felerin ne oldu\u011fu, nas\u0131l bir i\u015flev sergiledi\u011fi incelemenin temel sorunsal\u0131n\u0131 te\u015fkil etmektedir. Bu ba\u011flamda, \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmada \u00f6ncelikle kamusal alana g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz anlam\u0131n\u0131 kazand\u0131ran teorik \u00e7abalara de\u011finilmi\u015ftir. Takiben, kavram\u0131n g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz ve \u00f6nceki tarihler aras\u0131nda ihtiva etti\u011fi anlamda herhangi bir de\u011fi\u015fiklik olup olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 sorgulanmaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bu do\u011frultuda kavram\u0131n semantik k\u00f6kleri ve i\u015flevsel nitelikleri ara\u015ft\u0131r\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Daha sonra, kamusal alan\u0131n \u00f6zel alandan farklar\u0131 incelenerek aleniyet ve \u00e7o\u011fullu\u011fun kavramsal olarak kurucu nitelikler sergiledi\u011fi tespit edilmi\u015ftir. \u00c7al\u0131\u015fmada, son olarak, kamusal alan\u0131n politika ve demokrasiyle ili\u015fkisine de\u011finilmi\u015ftir.
