Abstract: <\/strong>In the 20th century, the shift from physician and disease-centered approaches to patient-centered approach began. It is accepted that the quality of health will increase with the adoption of patient-centered approach and this approach will contribute to the development of health. In this way, patients are included in the decisions in the treatment and care processes. It is foreseen that patient satisfaction will be increased with this common decision-making environment, the unnecessary diagnoses and tests in the treatment and care processes will be eliminated, costs will be reduced and health literacy in society will contribute to the development of health. When the literature was examined, patient-centered care researches were conducted by using quantitative research methods according to specific characteristics such as clinical applications and disease types and especially health professionals working in patient treatment and care processes. These studies support the projections on the subject. In the Turkish literature, there are a limited number of studies on patient-centered care and these studies focus on the relationship between physician and patient in primary health care. In this research, patient- centered and patient-centered care concepts, models, barriers to patient-centered care and their positive and negative aspects are included. Bu sayede hastalar, tedavi ve bak\u0131m s\u00fcre\u00e7lerinde kararlara d\u00e2hil edilmekte ve olu\u015fturulan bu ortak karar alma ortam\u0131 ile hasta memnuniyetinin de art\u0131r\u0131laca\u011f\u0131, tedavi ve bak\u0131m s\u00fcre\u00e7lerinde ortaya \u00e7\u0131kan gereksiz tan\u0131 ve testlerin ortadan kald\u0131r\u0131larak maliyetlerin d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcr\u00fclece\u011fi ve toplumda sa\u011fl\u0131k okuryazarl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n artarak sa\u011fl\u0131\u011f\u0131n geli\u015fimine katk\u0131 sa\u011flanaca\u011f\u0131 \u00f6ng\u00f6r\u00fclmektedir. Literat\u00fcr incelendi\u011finde klinik uygulamalar ve hastal\u0131k t\u00fcrleri gibi spesifik \u00f6zelliklere g\u00f6re ve \u00f6zellikle hasta tedavi ve bak\u0131m s\u00fcre\u00e7lerinde \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan sa\u011fl\u0131k profesyonelleri \u00fczerinde nicel ara\u015ft\u0131rma y\u00f6ntemleri kullan\u0131larak hasta merkezli bak\u0131m ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar\u0131 yap\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. S\u00f6z konusu ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar da konu ile ilgili \u00f6ng\u00f6r\u00fcleri destekler niteliktedir. T\u00fcrk\u00e7e alan yaz\u0131nda ise hasta merkezli bak\u0131m konusunda s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 say\u0131da \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma yer almakta olup, bu \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar daha ziyade birinci basamak sa\u011fl\u0131k hizmetlerinde hekim ve hasta ili\u015fkisi \u00fczerinde odaklanmaktad\u0131r. Bu ara\u015ft\u0131rmada hasta merkezlilik ve hasta merkezli bak\u0131m kavramlar\u0131na, modellerine, hasta merkezli bak\u0131m\u0131n \u00f6n\u00fcndeki engeller ile olumlu ve olumsuz y\u00f6nlerine yer verilmektedir.
