Abstract: <\/strong>The autonomy of information workers who work in the production process of cultural symbols is an important issue for social sciences. The approaches that evaluate the production process only in the context of ownership claim that these relationships will restrain the autonomy field of the symbol producer. Still the suggestion that symbol producers who work with their mental labours have a certain amount of autonomy is worth testing. In this study a field research is conducted in mainstream broadcasting in Turkey by using the relative autonomy emphasis in David Hesmondhalgh and Mike Wayne as a starting point. In the participant observation that is conducted in Fox TV, TGRT Haber and Kanal D Televisions it is tried to determine at what level the journalists as symbol producers are autonomous.

\u00d6zet: <\/strong>K\u00fclt\u00fcrel simgelerin \u00fcretim s\u00fcrecinde g\u00f6rev yapan enformasyon i\u015f\u00e7ilerinin \u00f6zerkli\u011fi, sosyal bilimler a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan \u00f6nemli bir tart\u0131\u015fma konusudur. \u00dcretim s\u00fcrecini sadece sahiplik \u00fczerinden de\u011ferlendiren yakla\u015f\u0131mlar, m\u00fclkiyet ili\u015fkilerinin, simge \u00fcreticisinin \u00f6zerklik alan\u0131n\u0131 tamamen k\u0131s\u0131tlayaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 savunurlar. Yine de, zihinsel emekleri ile \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan simge \u00fcreticilerinin, belli oranda \u00f6zerkli\u011fe sahip oldu\u011fu iddias\u0131 s\u0131namaya de\u011ferdir. Bu \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmada, David Hesmondhalgh ve Mike Wayne\u2019deki g\u00f6reli \u00f6zerklik vurgusundan yola \u00e7\u0131karak, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de anaak\u0131m televizyon habercili\u011finde bir saha ara\u015ft\u0131rmas\u0131 yap\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Fox TV, TGRT Haber ve Kanal D\u2019de ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirilen kat\u0131l\u0131ml\u0131 g\u00f6zlemlerle, birer simge \u00fcreticisi olan habercilerin, hangi oranda \u00f6zerk olduklar\u0131 saptanmaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.
