Call for Paper

Youth does not refer solely to a specific age period; it denotes a life stage shaped by societies’ historical experiences, cultural values, and social structures. With their dynamism and innovative ways of thinking, young people are among the most important agents of social transformation. Throughout history, it is evident that younger generations have assumed a pioneering role in many processes of social change and reform. The challenges young people face, and the approaches developed to address these challenges, are among the fundamental issues that directly shape a society’s future.

Within the scope of the theme, we have chosen for the upcoming issue of our journal, “Being Young in Türkiye,” we welcome academic studies that examine the position of young individuals in society, the problems they encounter, and strategies for addressing these problems.

Below are possible topics that may be included in this issue. However, other topics related to being young in Türkiye will also be considered for publication:

• Problems young people face in finding employment and in the labour market
• Problems experienced by young people due to the education system
• Inequality of opportunity in education
• Young people’s economic vulnerability: low incomes, poverty, and cost of living
• Barriers young people face in accessing health and social services
• The impacts of digital inequality on young people
• Lack of belonging among young people and processes of social alienation
• Young people’s participation in political life and issues of representation
• Young people’s life satisfaction in Türkiye
• The effects of physical and social environmental conditions on young people’s lives
